Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying

Who is it suitable for?

This qualification is aimed at 16-19 year olds who prefer and respond to 'hands-on' learning and want to become a bricklayer. The structure has a practical approach to assessment and includes many different techniques and knowledge evidence, which will stimulate and interest learners.

What are the aims of the course?

This course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and practical skills to enable you to carry out brick and block laying tasks to industrial standard and prepare you for you chosen career path or employment.

What areas are covered in this course?

  • Health and Safety and Welfare in construction
  • Principals of Building Construction, Information and Communication   
  • Producing thin joint masonry and masonry cladding
  • Build solid walling, isolated and attached piers
  • Interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures
  • Construct cavity walling forming masonry structures

What will I be able to go on to after I’ve completed the course?

This qualification will support progress to employment and start working as a bricklayer and if the company are registered with City and Guilds progress to full NVQ level 2 Bricklayer or further training in the construction industry.

How is the course assessed?

Learning outcomes are set at unit level and are achieved by following task based practical assessments, there is an online assessment for each of the above units.
