Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is aimed at 16-19 year olds who have a keen interest to learn about maintenance of Motorcycles and the different roles that are available in the retail motor industry. It is a progression from the entry level with more depth units and deeper understanding of the motorcycle trade.
What are the aims of the course?
This qualification will allow students to develop their knowledge and skills across all specialist areas of the mechanical areas of the vehicle. This will prepare them for further studies and potentially a place on Level 2 or an apprenticeship into a job role they desire in the future. This course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and practical skills to enable you to carry out basic service maintenance to motorcycles in a realistic working environment of our automotive workshop.

What areas are covered in this course?
Learners are required to choose units, specific to their needs, across the listed groups to achieve this Diploma. Some units within this route are additional units, which allows the learner to develop knowledge not only in Motorcycles but other means of transport. This motorcycle route allows learners to have the flexibility to develop their knowledge and skills across a variety of specialist areas to prepare them for further studies and potentially enter into a job role they desire in the future.
What qualifications do I need to do this course?
Although there is no formal entry qualification, a progression from an entry level motor vehicle qualification is required. You will need a positive attitude, commitment and be self-motivation. You should have an interest in working in the vehicle service maintenance industry.
What will I be able to go on to after I’ve completed the course?
It can support your progress to a Foundation (Level 1) or Higher (Level 2) Diploma and supplement their progress to GCSEs and other appropriate destinations, such as apprenticeships and employment.
How is the course assessed?
The assessments for this qualification have a practical focus and combine various assessment styles/methodologies in order to suit the subject and levels of units contained within it. Learning outcomes are set at unit level and are achieved by following task based, oral assessments and on line assessments.
