Who is it suitable for?

This qualification is suitable for school and college leavers who wish to join the automotive industry. 

This course is the highest qualification in motorcycles we deliver, at this level you would already have a very good knowledge base on motorcycles. 

What are the aims of the course?

This learning programme qualification is based upon the IMI SSC’s National Occupational Standards for Maintenance and Repair (Motorcycle route).

This qualification consists of a combination of units from:

  • The construction of a motorcycle
  • Electrical components
  • Engine refurbishment
  • Driveline components
  • Routine maintenance
  • Industry policies and guidelines

What areas are covered in this course?                       

The course covers practical and theory based skills to give a broad framework for those seeking to enhance their road to work or an apprenticeship. 

What qualifications do I need to do this course?              

This course is a natural progression after passing level 1.  The main difference is that the course is assessed online after every unit is completed and regular knowledge tests are taken to underpin your work.

What will I be able to go on to after I’ve completed the course?

This qualification forms the knowledge component (technical certificate) of the IMI SSC Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship framework (for Motorcycles).  

How is the course assessed?

The assessment is made up of two components:

  • Practical tasks
  • Online testing
