Our Centres
Goldwyn Ashford
All students have an EHCP in place at Goldwyn Ashford, identifying a primary need of SEMH and /or ASD. The local Authority will consult us if a student needs and provision are rooted in Social and Emotional needs. Many students will have transitioned from previous SEMH specialist provision, or some students may have had fractured mainstream experiences and or time out of education.
Our Student Experience and Outcomes
At Goldwyn School, we are committed to ensuring that every student leaves us with the confidence, skills, and qualifications they need to succeed in life. Our approach is centred on overcoming barriers linked to social, emotional, and mental health needs, enabling students to re-engage with learning and realise their full potential.
Through our Whole Child Curriculum, we support students to:
- Address and achieve their EHCP outcomes, ensuring provision is personalised and purposeful
- Develop self-confidence, resilience, and emotional wellbeing
- Build positive relationships and strengthen social skills and independence
- Re-engage with education through a balanced and ambitious curriculum
Alongside this, we offer a strong academic pathway, with opportunities to achieve qualifications from Entry Level through to GCSE, ensuring that all students have meaningful and aspirational next steps.
We hold ourselves to a high level of accountability for the impact of our curriculum—not only in terms of academic success, but in the kind of young people our students become. To ensure this, we use a range of measures to track progress and demonstrate impact, including:
- Academic outcomes and qualifications
- Wellbeing measures, including Leuven Scales and Boxall Profiles
- Engagement, attendance, and readiness to learn
- Development of social and emotional skills
- The voice of our students and families, which provides powerful insight into lived experience and progress
Our ultimate aim is that every student leaves Goldwyn better equipped for the future—confident, resilient, and ready to take their next steps in education, employment, and life.
Lessons at Goldwyn Ashford are classroom based; they provide a broad, balanced and relevant education taught in purpose-built specialist classrooms by KS3 & 4 subject specialists.
Students are taught in small groups of 8 with one teacher and one Teaching Assistant for each group.
Each day consists of 6 x 45-minute lessons
Social and emotional time for students is planned and delivered through our Goldwyn Time curriculum
All students participate in “Goldwyn Time” a structured daily intervention programme tailored to meet their individual ECHP outcomes and learning needs. For the majority of students, the focus of the interventions are social communication and emotional regulation, whilst providing a smooth transition route from the journey into school to the more ‘formal’ school day.
Students are supported in their learning progress by a positive target-based reward system (REACH points).
Students follow a broad and balanced programme of study.
Students in school years 7-9 follow a programme of study in:
English
Mathematics
Science
Design Technology
Information Technology
Humanities
Art
Design Technology
Music
Physical Education
Personal, Social and Development Education
At Key Stage 4 students can undertake a range of GCSE courses, vocational courses and work-related programmes. All students follow an individual programme designed to meet their specific needs. These include the following.
Our aspiration is for all students it to achieve GCSE and other level 1 & 2 qualifications by the end of Year 11. On average students leave Goldwyn Ashford with 10 or more of these qualifications.
All students are supported into post 16 education or training through an individualised transition programme that utilises CIEAG and the EHCP process. The vast majority of students leave Goldwyn to further their education in mainstream colleges or schools.
