Goldwyn Time – Our Social and Emotional Curriculum
Goldwyn Time is a dedicated and essential part of our curriculum, focused on developing students’ social, emotional, and communication needs, in line with their EHCP outcomes. It is carefully designed to meet the primary areas of need for our pupils—Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Communication and Interaction.
Each day begins with Goldwyn Time, providing a soft landing into the school day. This approach, grounded in a Maslow-informed model, ensures that students’ immediate needs are met—helping them feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn.
This time is also vital for targeted pastoral and safeguarding support, particularly for our most vulnerable students. It creates a consistent opportunity for trusted relationships, early intervention, and personalised support.
Through Goldwyn Time, we work to:
- Break down barriers to learning
- Build self-esteem, confidence, and emotional readiness
- Develop skills in self-regulation, communication, and relationships
- Increase engagement and readiness for learning
By prioritising social and emotional development in this way, we ensure that every student is equipped to access their learning and thrive both in school and beyond.
